Woodlawn Chapel Leadership

 - WoodlawnLogoBlack

There are many gifts...and to each is given a manifestation of the Spirit for the common good..."
(1 Corinthians 12:7)

Leadership within a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation is a witness to what we believe. As Presbyterians, we share in the Reformed tradition of electing men and women as ruling elders to share leadership with teaching elders (ministers of the word and sacrament).

Election to office reflects our commitment to the full expression of the diversity within our membership.  Leadership in the church also reflects our baptismal identity as people who  accept Christ's call to be responsibly involved in the full ministry of the church.

The Session: meets on the fourthe Sunday of the month, or additionally as required.  Session meets to receive members, transact business, and to lead the people of God at Woodlawn Chapel in fulfilling their commitments are disciples of Jesus Christ.  The pastor acts of moderator of the Session.

The Deacons: Also elected for service in the congregation are deacons, who carry the responsibility for leading the congregation's ministries of compassion and service.  At Woodlawn Chapel, the Deacons are grouped in three areas of ministry: Ministries of Compassion, Ministries of Mission, and Ministries of Fellowship.

The Deacons meet the 2nd Thursday of the month or additionally as required.

Every Elder and Deacon serves as the moderator of at least one ministry team ("committee.") Members and friends of Woodlawn are encouraged to get involved in the church's life by serving on a ministry team, or by adopting a special project. No door is closed, and there is always room for additional participation.  Contact the pastor, Chris Keating, or the ministry team leaders for more information!

Want to get involved? The ministry team leaders (elders and deacons) listed in the link below want to hear from you! Call or email the church office to learn more!
