“Baby” Room
The infant room at MDO fosters love, provides security and nurtures growth and independence. The day is filled with lots of free inter-active play, along with books, music, lunch and recess. The children grow both socially and mentally while having fun together.
“I have been loving the kids in the purple room for 11 years ever since my baby, Adam, started first grade. I always asked Adam to stay 3, since I love that age, but since that wasn’t possible I started teaching 3 year old Sunday school for 8 years. So teaching at Woodlawn was a perfect fit for me. Adam is now a sophomore at Lafayette and Denis and my other son. Andrew is a sophomore at Mizzou.” – Vicki E.
“I have loved working in the purple room for 9 years! It is amazing to see the 2 year olds blossom as they learn from each other! I started here when my youngest daughter, then 3 years old, had Miss Becky and Miss Lynn, for her wonderful teachers. I have 3 daughters; 1 in college, 1 in high school, and 1 in grade school. I’ve been married to my husband, Tom, for 24 years.” – DeeDee M.

“Purple” Room
The purple room provides growth and socialization for our 2 year olds. We watch their social skills, such as sharing and taking turns, develop through playtime. Their language skills blossom as they interact with other children their age. A fun theme each week provides new opportunities for learning such as colors, shapes, farm animals, and holidays.
“I have been teaching at Woodlawn for 4 years. I always had a passion to work with children. At my church I worked in the Children’s Ministry including summer bible camps and Wednesday nights. I feel God was grooming me all those years to become a preschool teacher. I am married and have two beautiful children, Zachary and Alyssa. I really enjoy working at Woodlawn. It is a perfect fit for my family and I.” – Lisa R.
“I have been at Woodlawn for 4 years. After being a stay at home mom to my children, I joined Woodlawn as a teacher after falling in love with the program while enrolling my daughter. As a teacher and a mom it is my joy to work with children, each day as we discover the world around us, making friends and learning through play. Originally from Louisiana, my family and I have lived in Wildwood for 10 years. My husband Chris and I are parents to Ben and Avery.” – Jill T.

“Blue” Room
We provide a caring and supportive environment that encourages positive social interaction and introduces the children to school readiness concepts.
We believe that learning is fun and we incorporate learning through the use of themes. Within a theme, a framework of books, songs, art projects, and crafts, encourages the children to discover patterns, numbers, shapes, colors, letters and their sounds, and the seasons.
“I have been teaching at Woodlawn’s MDO for 11 years and have been with the 3 to 4 year olds all that time! MDO offers a wonderful, safe environment for all the children; I love watching them grow and change throughout the year. In our classroom we work on our alphabet, numbers, shapes, and word recognition. We also work on our scissor skills. I am married and have two boys, Eric and Patrick.
